The Narayanganj River Port Authority of BIWTA has cleared 22 illegal structures built on the banks of the Shitalakshya river in the area adjacent to Kanchpur Bridge in Shimrail, Siddhirganj, Narayanganj metropolis.
A total of 22 illegal structures including some paved and semi-paved structures, tin sheds, houses were demolished with an excavator (Vecu) in a mobile court operation led by BIWTA Executive Magistrate Hasan Maruf on Saturday (November 11).
BIWTA's Narayanganj River Port Joint Director Md. Shahidullah, Deputy Director Md. Mobarak Hossain Majumdar, Assistant Director Nahid Hossain and other officials were present. A large number of police, naval police and Ansar members were present during the operation.
Executive Magistrate Hasan Maruf said that 22 illegal structures built on the banks of the Shitalakshya river were evacuated in an operation in the area adjacent to the Shimrail Kanchpur Bridge on Saturday. Our campaign against the encroachers of the river will continue as directed by the High Court.
