The Coast Guard has seized clothes and cosmetics worth around Tk 6 crore smuggled from India in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lt Commander BN Khandkar Munif Taqi said in a press release that these goods were seized after searching a truck loaded with stones in Kanchpur area of Siddhirganj (November 11).
According to Coast Guard authorities, a stone-laden truck tried to escape at high speed when it signaled to stop during the operation. Later, when the Coast Guard members chased the truck, the driver abandoned the truck and ran away.
2 thousand 877 pieces of sarees, 1 thousand 8 body lotions, 4 thousand 500 pieces of sun rice cream were seized by searching the truck.
